Detailed job description and main responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your clinical remit would involve the treatment of outpatients attending the respiratory centre including patients with a variety of medical conditions including bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, cough assessments, breathing pattern disorders and respiratory failure. This role is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is keen to develop their specialist respiratory skills and therefore experience with NIV and respiratory outpatients is desirable.
The post holder will be expected to assist with strategic development of the therapy service for UHS. This permanent post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop clinical and managerial skills within respiratory physiotherapy and oversee the development of others. The postholder will be expected to support the therapy, nursing and medical staff with complex patients requiring respiratory physiotherapy input in both the outpatient clinics and on the acute inpatient wards.
The post holder will be expected to engage in research, as well as regular clinical audits, and maintain up to date skills and knowledge in order to implement evidence based practice. The role will require supervising undergraduate students, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues.
The successful applicant would be expected to work at weekends within all fields of medicine and be rostered on the Physiotherapy Respiratory On-call and twilight rota, working across the acute wards.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a highly motivated clinician with evidenced experience in managing and treating outpatients with complex respiratory conditions.
Experience of working in a home ventilation team is desirable.
This role is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is keen to further develop their specialist respiratory and leadership skills.
