Description

Are you a detail-oriented accountant with a passion for financial statement preparation and analysis? We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis in Tucson, AZ. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare accurate and timely financial statements for our newspaper publisher client. You will also play a key role in revenue and expense tracking, as well as budgeting and forecasting activities.

Financial Statement Preparation:

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and standards while conducting thorough reviews of financial data to identify and rectify discrepancies.

Revenue and Expense Tracking:

• Manage the recording and analysis of revenue sources specific to the newspaper industry, including advertising, subscriptions, and other revenue streams.

• Track and analyze expenses related to editorial content, printing, distribution, and other operational costs, providing insights for cost control and budgeting.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets, collaborating closely with department heads to align financial goals with overall business objectives.

• Contribute to financial forecasting by providing accurate projections and performing variance analyses to support informed decision-making by senior management.

  Requirements

• AA/AS or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• 2+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, preferably in the publishing or media industry.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis software.

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
