About usNIHR Global Health Research Group on Vaccines to Control Respiratory Pathogens & AMR (VacAMR) is a new strategic South-South partnership between KEMRI-Wellcome, Kenya, Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome (Kamuzu University of Health Sciences), Navrongo Health Research Centre, Ghana Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, & the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research. Co-Directed by Robert Heyderman (UCL) & Brenda Kwambana-Adams (Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme & Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), VacAMR will take a transformative approach to the control of AMR associated with respiratory pathogens through a multimodal approach that includes vaccine and non-vaccine interventions. This equitable Africa-led partnership of epidemiologists, public health policy, and diagnostics specialists, social scientists, economists, clinicians, trialists, microbiologists and immunologists will co-develop and test these interventions, using our findings to influence policy. We will achieve our vision through a positive, facilitatory research culture, underpinned by strengthening research governance, administration, and financial capacity within partner institutions.Division of Infection & ImmunityVacAMR will be housed in the Department of Infection within the Division of Infection and Immunity at UCL. The postholder will work as part of a team of professional services administrators, senior academics, postdoctoral scientists and PhD students. The is part of the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences, which brings together UCL Medical School and five other Divisions spanning clinical and basic biomedicine.About the roleThis position is available for a post-doctoral research scientist who has the necessary skills to coordinate an international, multi-country collaborative research and training programme. The postholder will plan, prioritise, and manage the daily workload of VacAMR, delivering the necessary administrative support for the strategic, communication, research, procurement, and training activities of the Group.The postholder will support the training of VacAMR PhD students and international partners with a focus on institutional capacity strengthening.About youWe are seeking a highly motivated individual who would like to combine their research experience with the administration of an exciting new NIHR-funded research partnership. You should have the ability to communicate well and generate a collaborative ethos with this Global Health Research Group. You should be proactive and pursue the aims of VacAMR systematically and with creativity. You should have excellent organisation, computer and social media skills.The position is for 2 years in the first instance with the possibility of extension.Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details.
