Job Description:UOE07 – £39,347 – £46,974GeosciencesContract Type – Fixed Term – 36 MonthsFull Time – 35 Hours Per WeekThe Opportunity:We seek a 3-year (36 month) postdoctoral research associate to join the research team on the NERC funded project “MicroPI: A micromagnetic approach to absolute palaeointensity determinations”. The overall aim of the project is to develop the first absolute non-heating palaeointensity protocol based on micromagnetics. This new protocol will then be used to test the robustness of palaeointensities that claim to identify Inner Core Nucleation at ~0.55 Ga. The successful candidate will be based in the Institute of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Edinburgh, and collaborate closes with palaeomagnetic groups in Imperial and Liverpool Universities.This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
