Researchers with Maladjiny specialise in health services and related research, epidemiology, and evidence synthesis with a focus on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and families. With a cohort of Indigenous and international research leaders, our team delivers high impact and translational research that improves the health, wellbeing and development of Aboriginal children and families. The team within Maladjiny works relentlessly, with its Australian and international associates, to produce findings that are translated into practical improvement of services across all levels of Australia’s health care system.This position will report to the Vice-Chancellor Associate Professorial Research Fellow and will be provided with research career support via mentoring, collaboration, and networking opportunities, as well as guidance in research excellence standards and practices. The team within Maladjiny are a highly supportive and inclusive team of researchers and professional staff.The RoleYou will be working collaboratively in an established research team. The position will be a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position, which will provide you with the opportunity to undertake your own research whilst receiving support and mentoring from an established research team. You will have the opportunity to foster collaborations and engage in high quality research whilst developing your research career.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the research team and carry out research on projects within Maladjiny Research Centre whilst developing your own research area.
  • Support the generation of information and analysis of Western Australian administrative data to assist them to improve outcomes of their clients.
  • Prepare reports and publications and participate in related research activities as required.

The PersonWe are ideally seeking the following experience, and particularly welcome applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researchers.

  • Have a PhD/Doctorate qualification or be awarded/submitted your PhD prior to an offer being made.
  • Professional qualification and practical experience in a health-related field, ideally in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples health and related research (i.e. child protection and justice). A strong publication track record, producing high-quality research outputs with evidence of increasing independence and scholarly impact.
  • Evidence of supporting the development and submission of grant applications.
  • Strong connections with academic collaborators across a range of institutions.
  • Evidence of the ability to engage with research end-users, such as industry, community, and government, to drive research collaborations that lead to impact from your research.
  • Experience in supervising or mentoring HDR candidates and/or other research students and contributing to a team’s research culture.
