The Role

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued. Peatlands are an important asset for climate change mitigation, as they sequester and store carbon. However, future changes in climate may alter the extent of blanket bogs and the amount of carbon they take in, due to changes in productivity and respiration.

We are seeking a Post Doctoral Researcher to work on a Science Foundation Ireland funded project (PCARB: Investigating the past climate influence on the carbon accumulation rates of Irish blanket bogs). This project aims to assess how past changes in climate altered carbon accumulation in Irish blanket bogs, to inform estimates of potential future carbon sequestration.

Post Doctoral Researcher (2023) Salary Scale: €42,033 p.a. (1 point with increment)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
