PDFs will carry out research on innovative research projects, with opportunities for career development (publications and/or industry interaction).PDFs will be offered appointments to the staff of the National Research Council on a term basis and will be offered salaries and benefits currently available to Research Officers. Salaries commensurate with experience are taxable and subject to other deductions. As a guide, the current annual PhD recruiting rate is $82,338. In addition PDFs will be allocated a travel fund to support their work.Project TitleQuantum frequency comb sources for quantum secured communications and computing applications.The RoleThe quantum revolution holds the promise of vastly higher performance sensing and computing in areas of priority for Canada as well as improved security and sovereignty. All applications require sources of quantum light. The NRC is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to carry out research on the use of Quantum Dot Mode Locked Lasers to novel Quantum Frequency Comb sources. We have more than 20 years experience and international recognition in the science of QD-MLL for C band optical communication, and are looking for a motivated scientist to explore their applicability to quantum secure communication and computing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, modeling and execution of sophisticated experiments encompassing both classical and quantum domains, culminating in a prototype demonstration. • Fellowships will be for two years contingent on satisfactory progress achieved during the first year.
• Candidates should have obtained a PhD (or equivalent) within the past three years (PhD received on or after July 1, 2022*) or expect to complete their PhD within 6 months of appointment.
• Fellows will work in a lab under the direct supervision of an NRC researcher.
