For further information visit the .Full time, Fixed term for a maximum of 21 months, until 31 March 2026.Applications are invited for the post of Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Physics.The role is in the Astronomy group, a part of the Centre for Particle Physics and Astronomy at Royal Holloway – University of London. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Justyn Maund, investigating the explosive origins of supernovae. The role will be concerned with the analysis of data from the Hubble Space Telescope, the William Herschel Telescope and the European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescope. This research may involve the analysis of large datasets, the generation of new simulations and the utilisation of Machine Learning techniques.The PDRA will be expected to hold a PhD in astrophysics at the start of the appointment, and to have experience with the analysis and interpretation of observations and simulations pertaining to supernovae and their progenitors. A good general knowledge of the astrophysics of massive star evolution and core-collapse supernovae is desirable.In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
