We are seeking to appoint a highly enthusiastic and motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Christoph Tang’s research group based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. We study various organisms that are leading causes of disease, including Neisseria , Shigella , and pathogenic E. coli . The group is interested in defining the mechanisms of pathogenesis and applying these findings to the development of vaccines and therapeutics.The post holder will be responsible for managing your own academic research under supervision of Professor Tang. You will join an interactive, dynamic group applying multidisciplinary approaches to understand and tackle infections caused by human bacterial pathogens. You will develop interventions for the prevention or treatment of bacterial infection.The successful candidate should hold a PhD/DPhil in molecular cell biology or plasmid biology. You should have relevant experience in molecular bacteriology, biochemistry and plasmid biology especially with Shigella plasmids and Shigella spp. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage research projects. Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work as part of a team are essential.This is a fixed-term appointment available for up to 2 years.
