Job description
Postdoctoral Research Assistant(s) in Theory of Quantum Systems
Clarendon Laboratory, OxfordApplications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the theory of quantum systems. This post is full time and fixed term for 3 Years.“This project will explore theory of quantum computing and simulation relevant to setting a roadmap for ongoing experiments, as well as direct collaboration with experimental teams”.We are advertising four positions, in the areas of:– Adiabatic and dynamical algorithms for quantum computing and simulation– Quantum computing with neutral atom tweezer arrays– Out of equilibrium dynamics and quantum simulation with neutral atoms in optical lattices– Dissipative many-body dynamics, including measurement and feedback, and non-markovian dynamics with applications to quantum transport. The successful candidate will conduct research in the theory of quantum systems group, both individually and in collaboration with other team members, adapt existing techniques and develop new techniques, including analytical and/or computational approaches to many-body quantum systems and quantum computing. This includes carrying out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions. They will work with the rest of the Theory of Quantum Systems team to develop ideas for new research projects, collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and present papers and posters and research meetings. The candidate will act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on quantum systems and related theoretical and/or computational methods, and in collaboration with permanent academics, help to mentor students undertaking masters projects and internships in the research team.
- The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach. This may include lecturing, small group teaching, and tutoring of undergraduates and graduate students.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be close to completion in physics or a related field and have a strong background in the theory of quantum computing and simulation. Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Andrew Daley ([email protected])Only applications received before midday (UK time) 17 June 2024 can be considered. You will be required to upload a statement of research interests, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
