About the RoleThe main aim of this post is to identify and investigate novel genetic causes of hypopituitarism. The candidate will work with both human-derived material, mice models, and cell lines. The post-holder will participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, departmental research meetings, and co-supervise students. They will also present data at high-profile international and national meetings. The post-holder will be supported by a bioinformatician and a research nurse, other groups in the Centre for Endocrinology, and external collaborators. Therefore, the candidate should be able to work as part of a team.About YouThe candidate should have a PhD and ideally post-doctoral experience in an area relevant to the project , a productive track record, and experience covering the full range of duties required for the post. The postholder will work independently in the lab and have experience in a variety of techniques that span from tissue culture to molecular biology, including whole exome/genome sequencing, cell culture, in situ hybridisation, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy.
Experience in developmental biology, in vivo animal research and/or in analysing whole exome sequencing data is highly desirable.About the School/Department/Institute/ProjectThe position is within the Centre for Endocrinology at the William Harvey Research Institute in Bart’s and The London Medical School. The Centre for Endocrinology is a well-established large centre for basic, clinical and translational research in paediatric and adult endocrinology.The project that you will work on is part of a Large Project Grant funded by Barts Charity, involving Dr Evelien Gevers, Prof Marta Korbonits, Dr Sasha Howard, Dr Carles Gaston-Massuet, for work on congenital hypopituitarism, pituitary tumours, puberty and craniopharyngioma in children and adults.About Queen MaryAt Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence.
