Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.Currently located in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Experimental Psychology will be moving to the new, purpose-built The Life and Mind Building a multidisciplinary research and teaching facility due to open in the summer of 2025.We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join a research team led by Prof Jill O’Reilly and Prof Helen Barron, with responsibility for carrying out research on the role of rest in cognitive map formation, and the neural mechanisms underlying that process.The post holder will direct their own academic research and administrative activities managing a small scale project to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to manage resources and meet deadlines; design behavioural tests of memory and inference; and provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students.The post is fixed-term until 30 June 2026 and is primarily based in the Department of Experimental Psychology. There is scope for hybrid working during data analysis/write up phases of the project, and is offered on a full-time basis but we would consider applications for part time working (50-100% FTE).The successful candidate will hold, or be about to attain, a relevant PhD/DPhil in cognitive neuroscience and the ability to manage priorities and resources. Experience with ultra-high field 7T Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy; strong quantitative, programming and analytical skills; and experience working with healthy volunteers are essential criteria.What we offerAs an employer, we genuinely care about your happiness and wellbeing at work and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
