Job DescriptionA full-time postdoctoral position is available immediately for Electron Microscopy Science Research at the University of Notre Dame, affiliated with the Notre Dame Integrating Imaging Facility.The Notre Dame Integrated Imaging Facility (https://imaging.nd.edu) is seeking a highlymotivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our Electron Microscopy team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of electron microscopy science, developing and applying advanced imaging and analytical techniques for materials science, nanotechnology, biology, or related fields. The successful candidate will work with ND faculty, staff scientists, and industry partners assisting with ongoing research projects and develop independent research initiatives.The prospective candidate will conduct research on multidisciplinary projects with the aim to develop methodology for TEM, STEM and related spectroscopy techniques such as EDS and EELS. Additional responsibilities include processing and analysis of microscopy data using computational tools and assisting facility staff in the maintenance of the electron microscopes. The postdoctoral fellow will receive full training for working on state-of-the-art (S)TEM Spectra 30-300 as well as Talos F200i, Helios G4 FIB, and Magellan SEM.The postdoctoral fellow will work under supervision of:Dr. Bradley SmithDr. Maksym ZhukovskyiNotre Dame Integrated Imaging Facility https://imaging.nd.edu/about/people/Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. degree in Materials Science or related discipline.
- Previous experience working in Electron Microscopy.
- Familiarity with image processing and simulation software.
- Proven ability to work independently within a research lab.
- A track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in (S)TEM and any of the following techniques: 4D STEM, Lorentz, EELS, EDS, tomography, in-situ holders.
