Postdoctoral Research Associate
University of Liverpool
We invite applications for a full-time postdoctoral research associate to join our cross-institutional team of psychologists working on an exciting, applied research project. Building on our earlier funded research this project will look to design, test and disseminate new, psychologically informed team training with the goal of promoting greater interoperability between teams across the UK Emergency Services. This novel project will bring together psychologists and emergency practitioners, combining theory and practice. It will involve a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods, involving a systematic review of the literature to inform training format design, followed by empirical testing of novel team training to assess its impact on team processes and outputs in the short- and long-term.The post will include day-to-day running of the project; collaboration with research partners; working with stakeholders and research participants; managing research ethics; conducting qualitative and quantitative research; and supporting academic and practitioner dissemination of research findings.Outputs from this research will help to inform future training used by the UK Emergency Services, with the potential for application to other high-reliability organisations who engage in multi-agency teamwork both in the UK and internationally. You will have a PhD in psychology (or related discipline) and experience working in applied research settings. You will be able to work as part of a team and liaise directly with the research partners to recruit participants and collect data. You should have expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods. An understanding of organisational training methods and experience of disseminating research findings to practitioners would also be advantageous. This project is funded by the ESRC’s Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats (CREST), who fund behavioural and social science research into security threats ( ).For further information or an informal discussion please contact Dr. Nicola Power ( ).For full details and to apply online, please visit:
