Faculty of Health and Life SciencesThis new full-time post is immediately available until 30 September 2024 on a fixed term basis.We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.The postThe Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr Doretta Caramaschi. This post funded by The Waterloo Foundation is available immediately for 6 months. The successful applicant will conduct research on epigenomics and machine learning in relation to neurodevelopment in collaboration with the Complex Disease Epigenomics group (led by Prof. Jonathan Mill) and the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol (Dr Mattew Suderman). The successful applicant will join a project aimed at understanding attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder and co-occurring traits by analysing longitudinal data from children with complex neurodevelopmental phenotypes, performing bioinformatic analyses and applying machine learning approaches.The post will include project management, literature reviews, advanced statistical analyses, diagnostic tools, conference presentations. The project will also involve connecting with families with ADHD throughout and it will provide an opportunity to the postholder for to engage with them and to conduct impactful and rewarding research. The project will be based at the University of Exeter in collaboration with the University of Bristol. Remote or hybrid working options within the UK are possible for this post.About youThe successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) in molecular epidemiology or in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and expertise in performing genomic/epigenomic analyses of epidemiological data to work within established research programmes.
