Job Description:UOE07 – £39,347-£46,974Physics & Astronomy, Institute for AstronomyContract Type – Fixed Term for 2 years, starting before September 2024Full Time – 35 Hours Per WeekThe Opportunity:We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of cometary science. The successful candidate will join the research group led by Prof Colin Snodgrass and Dr Cyrielle Opitom at the Institute for Astronomy (IfA) at the University of Edinburgh.This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.This is a 2 year fixed term post with a start date ideally before September 2024.Your skills and attributes for success:

• PhD (or near completion) in Astronomy or related subject

• Relevant research experience in cometary science.

• Record of high-quality lead-author and co-authored refereed journal publications (relative to career stage).

• Capable of working independently, exercising a high degree of initiative, and with the ability to think creatively.

• Good timekeeping and time-management, with effective prioritisation of tasks.

• Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing.
