Job Description:UE07 – £39,347 – £46,974 per annumSchool of Biological Sciences – Institute of Quantitative Biology, Biochemistry and BiotechnologyFixed Term – until 30 March 2025Full time – 35 hours per weekWe are looking for an exceptionally talented and motivated experimental scientist to take up a fully-funded 18-months position as postdoctoral research fellow, as part of the UKRI funded project “IDERT: Intelligent Deimmunization for Enzyme Replacement Therapies”, led by Prof. Giovanni Stracquadanio.We are an interdisciplinary group based at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, interested in addressing challenges in healthcare and biotechnology, and aiming at continuously improving our strong publications and funding track record ( ).Our group is currently focusing on developing new biologics for the treatment of a class of rare diseases known as Lysosomal Storage Disease (LSDs), by developing new AI-driven biologics engineering methods and by engineering microbial and mammalian cells for optimising biologics production.This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week).The Opportunity:The post holder will be responsible to design, develop and execute new standard and automated protocols to express and characterise AI-designed, low-immunogenic therapeutic enzymes in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. The project is a unique opportunity to build a highly competitive profile at the intersection of the synthetic biology, laboratory automation and biologics fields.Your skills and attributes for success:
