About the RoleApplications are invited for the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate on CanDetect : a multidisciplinary research programme which aims to accelerate the detection of upper gastro-intestinal (UGI) cancers in primary care. The successful candidate will use large longitudinal healthcare datasets, including The Clinical Practice Datalink (CPRD), to develop and validate conventional and machine learning based diagnostic prediction models for cancer. They will be supported by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in general practice, health data science and statistics.About YouYou will be a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a PhD (or equivalent experience) in statistics, epidemiology or other quantitative health research discipline. Experience working with large-scale longitudinal healthcare datasets and interpreting results (e.g. CPRD, QResearch, UK Biobank etc) is essential, plus experience in the efficient preparation and statistical analysis, using conventional statistics and / or machine learning, of healthcare data. You will be proficient in one or more statistical/coding packages such as Stata, R or Python.About the Institute and CentreThe Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to more than 450 staff, 100 PhD students and c500 postgraduate taught students.
