The successful candidate will join the research project – Age-based imitation bias throughout development, during daily interactions, and across cultures. This project is led by Dr Sheina Lew-Levy and funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council.This project is a multi-sited international collaboration. The successful applicant will be tasked with leading the coding and analysis of naturalistic video footage of children’s imitating behaviours from the Republic of the Congo, the U.S., and Scotland. Your responsibilities will include data management, developing a coding scheme & manual, coding videos, training and supervising research assistants to code videos, as well as processing, cleaning, and analyzing data. You will also liaise with colleagues based in the Republic of the Congo, the U.S., and Scotland. You will be expected to write up findings for publication and disseminate findings at conferences. The project is ideally suited for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and who is excited about working as part of an interdisciplinary team.The successful candidate will have a strong academic track record, including experience in designing, carrying out, analysing, and interpreting video observations and associated quantitative data. Experience with any of the following topics and approaches will be a strong advantage:

  • Boris, DataVyu, or similar video coding software
  • Team management
  • Cross-cultural research, esp. multi-sited collaborations
  • Advanced statistical analysis skills, esp. relational event modelling

However, we do not necessarily expect candidates to have experience in all of these, and we can provide training as needed on those which are unfamiliar.You will report to Dr Sheina Lew-Levy as the PI on the grant. You will also be supported by Dr Bruce Rawlings as a Co-I on the grant.This post is fixed term for 30 months.
