About the opportunityAs a Laureate Fellowship Postdoctoral Research Associate – Disease Ecology / Epidemiology you will refine and apply ecological and epidemiological skills to understand the wild-domestic animal interface to inform microbial spillover risk. You will design and implement field studies and create novel analytical frameworks. You will address an issue of global importance.Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • create a program of excellence in the wild-domestic interface and microbial spillover risk
  • use innovative methods and technology to generate field-based, empirical data
  • develop and apply novel analytical approaches
  • integrate modelling and decision analysis to promote surveillance for globally-important disease threats
  • supervise PhD, honours and DVM student research.

  • a postgraduate research qualification (PhD) (or near completion), is essential. Previous research in the area in Disease Ecology or Infectious Disease Epidemiology is desirable
  • design, plan and implementation skills for field studies that involve both wild and domestic animals
  • ability to create novel analytical frameworks that can be applied to field and surveillance data
  • experience in biostatistics, bioinformatics, risk analysis or disease spread modelling
  • a track record of high impact journal publications in the fields of disease ecology or infectious disease epidemiology, and presentations at international conferences.
