We are looking for an enthusiastic Post-doctoral Research Associate to join the team of Dr Nordine Helassa on a British Heart Foundation funded project.Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is an inherited disorder associated with increased risk of life-threatening cardiac events. It affects approximately 1:2500 people and those living with LQTS experience seizure, fainting, and potentially life-threatening arrhythmias. This project uses a multi-disciplinary approach to provide new insights into the molecular mechanism of LQTS and inspire new therapeutic strategies.You should have a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Physiology, Cell Biology or related discipline. Experience working with proteins, confocal microscopy or patch-clamp electrophysiology would be desirable.If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.This is a fixed-term post available for 3 years.The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity.
