Postdoctoral Researcher in Haematology and Stem Cell BiologyWe are looking for a talented and motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the groups of based in the Department of Biology at the University of York. The Kent lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms that regulate normal haematopoietic stem cell maintenance and how this is altered in haematological malignancies. The Kent lab takes a multi-disciplinary team science approach to understand the dynamics of HSC clonal expansion ( 2018, , 2022, Nature Medicine, in press) and determine mechanisms responsible for the development of haematological disorders ( , 2015, 2018)RoleWorking on Cancer Research UK-funded projects focused on HSC clonal dynamics, you will benefit from a highly collaborative programme with academic and clinical interactions. The post holder will also benefit from a multidisciplinary environment locally at the .Skills, Experience & Qualification neededShould have, or about to obtain a PhD in cell biology, haematology, immunology, cancer biology or a related subject.Direct experience in a range of cellular and molecular techniques, including cell line and primary cell culture, single cell transplantation, phylogenetic tree building, flow cytometry, growth and signalling assays and in vivo models.You will be expected to drive independent projects but also work closely with each other and with other lab members and assist in the identification and development of potential areas of research and the development of proposals.Ability to work independently as well as part of the programme team working on related projects. Excellent communication skills are essential, and you should be keen to develop project/team leadership skills.You will be expected to write up research results for dissemination through publications, seminars and conference presentations and will be encouraged to participate in public engagement and science outreach activities.Opportunities for mentorship and additional collaborations will be available and encouraged.The post is funded by Cancer Research UK. The post is full time, on a fixed term basis for 24 months This is a grade 6 post; salary £37,694 per annum.Closing date: 9th September 2025.
