A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the group of Royal Society Research Professor A. I. Cooper FRS to strengthen specific areas that are of relevance to our research, particularly in the development of automated methods for materials chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and catalysis. This post will expand on our recent development in the use of mobile robot chemists for the discovery of functional materials, such as heterogeneous photocatalysts (*Nature*, **2020**, *583*, 237) and crystalline organic solids (*Chem. Sci.*, **2024**, *15*, 2456).You will be an ambitious individual motivated to push the boundaries of chemistry by implementing new and existing automated chemistry methods. You should have a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Materials Science and skills in the development of automated methods are essential as well as the ability to take responsibility in research planning and organization.The main criteria for appointment will be skills, motivation, and a passion for the concept of autonomous research using robots fused with computation rather than a narrower view of publication record. This post would be ideal for a curious scientist who enjoys teamwork,maintains up-to-date knowledge of their field and is keen on sharing knowledge and training other group members.The project will be supervised by Professor Andrew Cooper FRS and it will be based in the Materials Innovation Factory and the Autonomous Chemistry Laboratory.
