Company
University of Manchester
Job description
BACKGROUNDThis two-year research associate position is part of the National Hub for Advanced Long-acting Therapeutics (HALo), a UKRI-funded research initiative that brings together leading UK institutions to revolutionise drug delivery for chronic diseases. The HALo Hub is a multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers in materials science, nano-technology, bioengineering, and clinical sciences. HALo aims to establish the UK as a world leader in long-acting therapeutic (LAT) development by tackling key challenges in formulation science, pharmacokinetics, and sustainability. The project focuses on creating new formulations, improving drug delivery strategies, and developing predictive models to accelerate the clinical translation of LATs.The primary objective of this role is to establish robust subcutaneous in vitro release testing (IVRT) models that accurately replicate in vivo conditions, enabling better predictions of drug release, depot formation, and bioavailability. The research associate will develop biorelevant testing systems for in situ forming implants, lipid-based formulations, and long-acting injectables (LAIs). The research will be crucial in linking IVRT data with in vivo performance, ensuring that laboratory models reflect realistic physiological conditions. The research associate will work closely with collaborators in biomaterials, pharmaceutical sciences, and bioengineering, contributing to the broader objectives of HALo in accelerating the development of long-acting therapeutics. What you will get in return:
