The Civic HealthTech Innovation Zone (CHI-Zone) is being established to accelerate the growth of the health and life science sector, upskill residents and create jobs for the Liverpool City Region. A new team is being created, as part of the CHI-Zone, to develop tools to leverage information from health datasets to guide advancements in pharmaceutical research. Within this team, as Post-doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in Mathematics and Modelling you will deliver cutting-edge research at the intersection of health data analysis, causal inference, and drug discovery.Working under the supervision of Professors Simon Maskell and Iain Buchan, you will work with other members of the Maskell group and the Universitys Civic Health Innovation Labs. Your role will include developing and optimising Bayesian methodologies to infer causal relationships from complex health datasets, including Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Sequential Monte Carlo approaches. You will work closely with end-users in the pharmaceutical industry to understand their requirements, to share results at an appropriate level of complexity and to ensure that the project outputs have utility in pharmaceutical design.The post is available from 1 April 2025 until 31 March 2028.If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.Although the university has a hybrid working system, we expect that the applicant appointed to this role will work more than 60% on campus.Commitment to DiversityThe University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity.
