Postdoctoral Research Associate in Microbiome – Antibiotic interactions

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Dr Mathew Stracy, based in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford. This project aims to understand how antibiotics cause collateral damage to gut microbial communities.The post-holder will be responsible for managing own academic research and administrative activities. You will plan and execute experimental work in vivo and in vitro to understand how antibiotics affect target strains of interest within gut microbial communities in vivo.The post-holder should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD in a relevant subject (microbiology, biological sciences, mucosal immunology or a related field). You should have an excellent knowledge of the gut microbiome and an excellent understanding of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. You should have prior experience performing experiments with synthetic or natural microbial communities in anaerobic conditions. Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.This is a fixed-term appointment available for 2 years in the first instance.
