Job description

Commitment to DiversityThe University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the group of Royal Society Research Professor A. I. Cooper FRS (Fellow of the Royal Society) to carry out research in organic porous materials. This post will focus on designing and synthesizing new classes of porous materials (*e.g.*, expanding the practical scope of non-metal organic frameworks, N-MOFs, that we created recently (*Nature*, **2024**, *630*, 102).You will be an ambitious individual with a research background in crystalline porous frameworks. You should have a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related fields. Prior experience in automation and robotics is not a requirement, but an interest in expanding into that area and working closely with others to develop new automated workflows is essential. As such, a strong and proven aptitude for teamwork is essential, in addition to specific technical skills. The criteria for appointment will be skills and motivation, rather than a narrower view of publication record or specific sub-discipline. We are particularly seeking candidates with experimental expertise in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and/or hydrogen bonded organic frameworks (HOFs), or other related crystalline materials. This post would be ideal for a curious scientist who enjoys teamwork, maintains an up-to-date knowledge of their field, and is keen on sharing knowledge and training other group members. The project will be supervised by Professor Andrew Cooper FRS and it will be based in the Materials Innovation Factory and the Autonomous Chemistry Laboratory. You will have the opportunity to work in a unique field and gain experience that could help to launch a career either in academia or in industry. The post is available for 2 years.Informal enquiries to Dr Zuzana Oriou ([email protected]).If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
