We seek to appoint two suitably qualified and experienced postdoctoral research fellows to work with Professor Paul Cairney on the Horizon Europe project WAGE (Healthy working environments for all ages: An evidence-driven framework).Our work package uses policy theory insights to foster the uptake of research evidence in policymaking. The successful candidates will work with Cairney to (1) provide a detailed report on all relevant policy instruments and who would be responsible for their design and delivery, (2) design an engagement report based on our map of the policy system, and (3) contribute to the engagement strategies of a wider ‘cluster’ of Horizon projects (WISEWORK-C). As such, political science researchers of multi-level policy and policymaking would be particularly relevant, but we also welcome applications from interdisciplinary researchers on the role of evidence in policy.The successful candidates will be based in Stirling, but also part of a larger team across Europe, contributing to interdisciplinary research and teaching with real world impact. The language of Stirling-based research (and the Horizon reports) is English.   • Produce a detailed report on all policy instruments relevant to the project (including health and safety guidance and regulation)
  • Produce a detailed report which maps the organisations or governments responsible for the design and delivery of policy.
  • Design an engagement report based on this map of the policy system
  • Contribute to the engagement strategies of a wider ‘cluster’ of Horizon projects (WISEWORK-C).
  • There may also be scope to conduct direct research on the working practices of partner organisations.
  • Contribute to the intellectual development of the research projects.
  • Regular participation in project meetings (Stirling team and WAGE project).

Essential CriteriaQualifications

  • PhD in Politics or relevant discipline (or near completion)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • A record of research in public policy or policymaking (English language)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of public policy and policymaking research (English language)
  • Skills and experience in qualitative methods
  • Evidence of good administrative and project management skills
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of self-motivation and the ability to work independently

Desirable CriteriaKnowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Evidence of collaborative research with other institutions and interdisciplinary work
  • Evidence or knowledge of the Higher Education context and regulatory framework
  • A track record of published research on multi-level policymaking in the EU (or UK)
  • Proficiency in project relevant languages (Polish, Portuguese, or Spanish)
  • Previous experience of working in a research team, especially an interdisciplinary one
