Job title:

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Company

UCL

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist to join the Pichaud Lab as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, working in the Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology (LMCB) at University College London. Work in our lab focuses on understanding how cells interact to assemble functional organs. This project, funded by the Medical Research Council, is innovative and original and should provide an excellent platform for a motivated scientist to start their own research group. The LMCB is a UCL division within the Faculty of Life Scientists where eighteen program leaders and 130 staff and PhD students work together to understand the fundamental principles of cell and tissue biology relevant to human disease. The LMCB has in-house access to a range of state-of-the-art equipment, including optical tools (e.g., Airyscan, SoRA spinning disc, diPSIM, lattice light sheet, all super resolution modalities), Electron microscopy (e.g. volume EM and correlative light-electron microscopy), and a 10x-based genomics platform. The Pichaud Lab, funded by UKRI, aims to understand how cells work together to assemble functional epithelial tissues, essential for organ function. We use molecular genetics and both hypothesis-driven and unbiased approaches, with the fly eye as our primary model system, where we can manipulate each cell-type with great spatial-temporal resolution. We are looking for a new colleague to join our team, who will combine an excellent understanding of cell and developmental biology with a focus on epithelial tissues organisation, as well as the ability to establish productive and collaborative relationships.A job description and person specification can be accessed at the UCL career website.
