Job Description:Grade UE07- £39,347- £46,974CAHSS- Edinburgh Law SchoolFull-time: 35 hours per weekFixed-term: August 2024- September 2025The Opportunity:This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and entrepreneurial early career researcher to join the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)-funded project: Reversing the Gaze, at Edinburgh Law School. You will be involved in developing theories of the state and/or public finances through a comparative approach. You should have a high-quality research profile commensurate with your career status, as well as a proven commitment to conducting and/or collaborating on interdisciplinary research projects.You will play a full part in the conduct of the project research at Edinburgh Law School, as both a team member and a research leader. You will also play a full part in the overall project, a consortium between Edinburgh, the University of Basel, and the University of Zurich. Finally, you will play a full part in the collegiate life of the Edinburgh Law School, and will be supported to develop and execute an ambitious and impactful research agenda, which will place you in a strong position to take the next step in your academic career.The School of Law strives to be a diverse and inclusive community. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.This is a full-time post, from 1 August 2024 to 30 September 2025 (with possibility of a further extension contingent on funder approval)Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A strong analytical and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and undertake independent academic research, as demonstrated by a PhD (obtained or near completion).
  • Ability to design and deliver cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.
  • Ability to support and develop innovative research in the area(s) of expertise, including through high-quality publications.
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
