Salary will be $70,000 per year.The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position at the rank of Post-Doctoral Fellow. The position is for 12 months. Salary will be $70,000 per year.Working directly with Dr. Jennifer Baumbusch, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will join a productive multi-disciplinary research group, inclusive of people with lived experience. The successful candidate will have a background in qualitative research methods and program evaluation, with a strong commitment to applied research that influences policy, practice, and health. As well, a demonstrated background in the areas of gerontology and climate change is preferred.The role will be part of Dr. Baumbusch’s CIHR funded research program focused on climate change and the aging population. Related research projects include: a study about the impact of extreme heat events on older adults, a photovoice project about the mental health impacts of climate change on older adults, and climate resilience in the long-term care home sector.Responsibilities will include:

• Conduct data collection and analysis of qualitative research, including photovoice, interviews, and focus groups, related to climate impacts on older adults.
• Supervise research assistants and trainees who are assisting with data collection, analysis, writing, and additional research projects.
• Participate in collaborating on additional projects led by the Principal Investigator related to older adults and climate change.
• Co-create knowledge translation outputs for a public audience (e.g. social media, infographics, web-based events).
• Develop and write manuscripts for peer-review publications.
• Contribute to the development of further grant applications.
• Other activities as required.

Job Qualifications:

• Completed a Ph.D. within the last 5 years in a relevant discipline (e.g. gerontology, nursing, medical anthropology, sociology, social work).
• Experience with qualitative research and program evaluation.
• Demonstrated ability in research with older adults and climate change research.
• Advanced experience with qualitative data management and analysis software (e.g. Dedoose, NVivo), as well as experience using word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and reference managers.
• Experience working with co-researchers and community-engaged research.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Strong writing skills, experience with publishing academic journal articles preferred.
