Job Description:ABOUT THE ROLEWe are excited to announce a 2-year opportunity to join a vibrant research environment as a postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the delivery of research activity on the NIHR-funded In2Air project [The impact of ‘net-zero’ household energy interventions on indoor air quality, health and wellbeing]. The project will monitor indoor air quality in the homes of our cohort families to investigate the impact of fabric-first retrofitting interventions on indoor air quality and on the health and wellbeing of occupants.The role-holder will have specific responsibility for managing the network of low-cost air quality sensors and engagement activities with participants recruited from communities across Newcastle upon Tyne. The role holder will undertake, with appropriate support and guidance, individual and collaborative research, including data analytics of sensor data, interviews, workshops and other public events, as well as contributing ideas and/or enhancement of techniques or methodologies, writing up research work for publication and other dissemination, and contributing to impact via knowledge transfer.This role is a fixed term role until 31 August 2026. We are happy to consider part-time job share arrangements.ABOUT THE TEAMThe In2Air research project is being delivered across the Faculty of Engineering and Environment and is aligned to the . The project involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team across three Departments within the Faculty (Geography, Computing and the Built Environment) and with our partners at Newcastle University, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Building Research Establishment and Newcastle City Council. The research builds on the pilot .ABOUT YOUApplicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline and have demonstrable specialist knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: air quality monitoring, quantitative research activity, programming, data analytics.
