We’re here to create and harness knowledge, to deliver opportunity for everyone.About the RoleThis post is only open to current Edge Hill University staff with a substantive post.A Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mental Health, the project aims to strengthen existing children and young people mental research using a team science approach to define the roles needed for an effective mental health research group. The group will include diverse health professionals focusing on Asset-Based Community Development approaches. The long-term vision is to establish a Centre of Excellence for mental health asset-based community interventions, which will serve as a hub for pioneering mental health interventions, providing essential support to tackle complex mental health challenges in the North West and beyond. The goal is to develop sustainable, community-centred solutions that can be replicated and scaled, significantly improving mental health outcomes.By strengthening research, fostering community involvement, and forming strategic partnerships, this initiative aims to address the pressing mental health challenges faced by CYP in the North West, ultimately creating a robust framework for better mental health care and support. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will continue to the development of innovative approaches to mental health in the region. The project aims to improve access to services for those in need and to produce impactful research benefiting local and international communities.The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Engaging positively in the research activity of the NIHR Mental Health Leadership Award, focusing on children and young people, under the direction of the Mental Health Leader.
- Completing high quality research in the area of Mental Health and associated subject areas, leading on qualitative research focus and expertise in patient and public involvement elements of the project and managing the work of others as required
- Community engagement and co-production, embedding co-production principles effectively in relation to community outreach, workshops and defining asset-based interventions, ensuring meaningful and diverse community participation.

- Detailed understanding and knowledge of Mental Health Research
- Previous experience of conducting high quality research involving Mental Health Research
- Experience of working in the Higher Education sector
- The ability to communicate new and complex information effectively, both verbally and in writing, engaging the interest and enthusiasm of the target audience (both lay and expert)
- Experience of publishing high quality academic peer reviewed articles as lead author
