Led by Dr. Mary De Vera, our team conducts patient-oriented, epidemiologic and health services research with the goal of addressing information needs and developing interventions to support patients living with chronic diseases, particularly arthritis and cancer. We specialize in multi-method research spanning: 1) quantitative research using administrative databases and national health surveys; and 2) qualitative research using novel methods of data gathering.Postdoctoral Fellow PositionThe postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Dr. Mary De Vera and will have the opportunity to work on various research projects including:Epidemiologic studies of the burden and impact early-age onset colorectal cancerMulti method studies of sexual and reproductive health among adolescent and young adult cancer patientsPharmacoepidemiologic studies of the impact of arthritis medications on maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomesMulti method studies to inform integration of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in health outcomes research, particularly in arthritis and cancerPharmacoepidemiologic studies of adherence to treatments in arthritis and cancerThe postdoctoral fellow will work collaboratively with a research team including research coordinator, statistician, and trainees. They will also be part of the Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), a multidisciplinary group of health outcomes researchers within the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.Consequences of Error:This position requires professional action on all aspects of research work and is responsible for the production of high quality, reproducible, well-documented research activities. Errors in judgement and failure to report problems have significant consequences and will lead to termination of the position.Supervision Received:The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with a high degree of independence and set priorities under directives from Dr. Mary De Vera.Supervision Given:This position may involve supervision of undergraduate students, other lab members and collaborators to accomplish research goals.Qualifications and QualitiesObtained a PhD in epidemiology, health services research, health economics, health policy, or a related discipline OR completing PhD with evidence of submission of a Doctoral thesis at the time of postdoc application AND successful defense within a three (3) month time period of starting the postdoctoral position;Scientific productivity in terms of published manuscripts and conference abstracts;Experience with analyzing of large databases (preferably using SAS);Demonstrated time management, initiative, organization, and interpersonal skillsApplication InstructionsPlease submit: 1) cover letter (explaining interest in the postdoctoral fellowship and how experience and interests align with the research program described above); and 2) CV.
