Classification: Contractual term position (35 hours/week)
Salary Rate: $70,000 for the 12-month term. Compensation also includes 4 weeks paid vacation, paid statutory holidays, health insurance, and life insurance. There are also potential opportunities for part-time teaching contracts.
Work location: Antigonish, Nova Scotia or Victoria, British Columbia preferred. Remote work negotiable.
Overview
The Mazerolle Lab at St. Francis Xavier University (www.erinmazerolle.com) requires a Postdoctoral Researcher for a 12-month term position. Housed in the Department of Psychology, the Mazerolle Lab is an interdisciplinary human neuroscience environment with ongoing projects in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), improving reproducibility in neuroimaging, and neuroscience knowledge mobilization.
Under the supervision of Dr. Erin Mazerolle, the Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to Canadian Institutes of Health Research funded projects that aim to understand “SuperAgers” (older adults with memory capacities of young adults), with the ultimate goal of identifying possible interventions and strategies to help promote healthy aging among all Canadians. The project will leverage data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will have opportunities to collaborate with other researchers at St. Francis Xavier University in Psychology and Health, as well as researchers and clinicians at the University of Victoria, University of Calgary, and McGill University.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include leading a research project in which the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging database will be used to estimate the prevalence of Canadian SuperAgers, identify modifiable correlates of being a SuperAger, evaluate the impact of differing SuperAger definitions, and evaluate SuperAger status longitudinally. The Postdoctoral Researcher will also write academic research papers and deliver conference presentations describing the findings.
Qualifications
• Completion of a doctoral degree in psychology, epidemiology, or a related field is required.
• Expertise in one or more of the following is required: quantitative data analysis, big data, aging research, and/or neuropsychology research.
• Experience with neuroimaging research and/or knowledge mobilization will be considered an asset.
• Experience supervising undergraduate researchers will be considered an asset.
