We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.Job Summary:To accelerate SLB’s growth in the Energy Transition technology space, we are seeking a driven and creative post-doctoral scientist to join our Materials and Interfaces research programme (part of the Materials and Energy Systems Department. The vision of this program is to play a leading role in driving innovation for our company by addressing materials challenges relating to CO2 capture processes, both from industrial emission point sources as well as directly from the atmosphere.Passion for science, teamwork and the desire to succeed are the core of our programme. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for characterization, testing and development of novel materials and components for CO2 capture. These include novel membranes and adsorbents. Reporting into programme, you will help define research directions as well as conducting and reporting on your research, developing intellectual property and novel products and processes.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and maintain the lab to the highest safety standards
  • Design lead and deliver innovative materials chemistry and IP for different projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to learn new techniques.
  • Be up to date with polymer, membrane, sorbent, CCUS scientific literature and technology developments
  • Effectively communicate ideas, concepts and results to the team and stakeholders
  • Engage and collaborate with SLB technical community
  • Publish scientific papers, write patents applications and attend conferences

Qualifications & Experience:

  • PhD in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials sciences
  • Lab experience in polymer chemistry, materials science.
  • Good experience in characterising and testing polymer membranes in terms of microstructure composition and performance testing for specific applications (including for gas permeability, selectivity)
  • Good experience in polymer functionalisation and synthesis processes and membrane fabrication methods
  • Knowledge and experience of analytical chemistry methods and polymer/surface characterisation and testing (structure/performance relationships)
