Hiring Unit: Max Bell School of Public Policy

Position: Course Lecturer

Course: Policy Case Study (Master of Public Policy program)

Course Description:

These courses are designed to bridge theory with practice by introducing students to the various elements of the policy process that can only be understood by practitioners who were involved in the policy’s development. Practitioners interested in teaching a policy case study must include with their application a proposal for a case study that centers on a specific policy issue in which they are or were closely involved. The applicant’s area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.

These courses are usually offered over one week in the 2024/2025 program during the Fall term, Winter term and Summer term.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Some teaching experience at the University level is preferred 
  • Experience in public policy, policy analysis, politics, analytics, or economics is essential
  • Applied/industry-related or academic research experience in the field 
  • Knowledge of policy transparency and policy transparency challenges, and experience in the design and analysis of policies and implementation in actual government/industry settings, complete with a demonstrable understanding of the various complexities encountered in the policy process.
