Moving beyond compliance, we truly value the experience and knowledge brought to our Indigenous partnerships.We are looking for a motivated and experienced Prime Contracts Manager to join our Equipment Division in Nisku, AB. We are ideally looking for a candidate based in AB and living in proximity to our Nisku office.Position Summary:The Prime Contracts Manager (“PCM”) is responsible for managing and overseeing the lifecycle of prime contracts between Procon and our clients, ensuring that contracts are negotiated, executed, and managed effectively, proactively balancing the organization’s interests with contractual obligations. The PCM plays a crucial role in ensuring that the terms and conditions of each contract are fulfilled and that Procon is receiving the full value of the contract through sound contract management practices, while supporting the successful project delivery within the establish parameters, driving financial performance, minimize risks, and fostering strong client relationships.Responsibilities:The responsibilities of prime Contracts Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Contract Negotiation: The PCM is involved in negotiating the terms and conditions of contracts with clients or partners. This includes discussing pricing, schedules, contract terms, payment terms, and other critical aspects of the agreement.
  • Contract Administration: Once a contract is in place, the PCM is responsible for ensuring that both parties adhere to the agreed-upon terms. This involves tracking deliverables, monitoring milestones, and managing any changes or amendments to the contract.
  • Risk Management: Contracts often involve risks, and the PCM is tasked with identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with the contract. This may include legal, financial, or operational risks.
  • Communication & Client Management: Effective communication & client engagement is crucial in contract management. The PCM needs to communicate & engage regularly with internal teams, and clients to provide updates on contract status, address concerns, and ensure that everyone is aligned.
  • Compliance & Auditing: The PCM ensures that all contract terms and conditions are being followed by each party, through recognized auditing practices, while 2nsuring each contract is compliant with laws, regulations, and company policies. The PCM must be knowledgeable about relevant laws and regulations and ensure that the contract and its execution align with these requirements.
  • Dispute Resolution: In the event of disputes or disagreements between the contracting parties, the PCM may be involved in resolving conflicts. This could involve negotiation, mediation, or other dispute resolution methods.
  • Continuous Improvement: The PCM may also be involved in evaluating and improving the contract management processes within the organization. This involves identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, and optimizing workflows.
  • Communication & Coordination: The PCM acts as the primary contact for client on contract related matters, while working with internal stakeholders (legal, finance, procurement, project controls and site leadership) to ensure the contract is executed properly.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum 8-10yrs Experience managing complex contracts ideally in a mining or industrial environment
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Contract Management, Law, Finance SCM or Business
  • Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designations, considered an asset
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams or managing a team of contract specialists
  • Proven experience managing complex, high-value programs.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management, including drafting, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Financial acumen for cost analysis and revenue forecasting
  • Positive attitude and enjoys being a proactive member of a high-performing team
