About the role

Function of Crisis Response and Recovery Dept

Provide CRRU clients with a first-class programme delivery service that responds to and assists people in crisis with a focus on humanitarian assistance, early recovery, peace, stability and security. Contribute to the success of CA by delivering profitable business results and building CA’s reputation as ‘go to’ provider for humanitarian and stabilisation solutions for a wide range of clients

Job Purpose

  • Support the refinement and refresh of the CRRU growth strategy
  • Provide technical support and guidance in humanitarian, stabilisation, conflict and related themes
  • Deliver programmes to the highest standards ensuring that client satisfaction

Responsibilities

Win

  • Support the CRRU Director to grow a profitable and sustainable pipeline of projects.
  • Acting as Bid Director, lead business development activity
  • Broaden the client base through research, engagement and communications activity
  • Build positive relationships with key clients across the CRRU donor base, engaging with core clients such as the FCDO
  • Align to the geographic priorities of the team and support growth and engagement in the regions
  • Build and maintain key networks and partnerships with accomplished organisations and key individuals in the humanitarian sector
  • Set, prioritise and manage key strategic relationships with organisations and consultants in developing partnerships for business development
  • Carry out key positioning work in preparation for bid development

Manage

  • Undertake direct line management of staff.
  • Mentor staff across the department in humanitarian and stabilisation best practice, building the capacity of junior staff
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of programmes in the position of Project Director and conduct performance management of staff.
  • Assume the leadership of key pursuits
  • Work constructively with CA international offices to support business development / delivery

When acting as Project Director, ensure that:

  • Contracted annual financial target is met /exceeded
  • Deliverables are produced on time and to the highest quality
  • Risks are mitigated
  • Client and partner relationships are positive, constructive and productive.
  • Optimise contribution to the department and organisation through the inclusion and utilisation of billable days.
  • Highlight programme risks of issues at the earliest stage and collaborate with the CRRU Director and broader Executive Team on their resolution.

Build

  • Build compelling and consistent thought leadership in subject areas.
  • Build positive relationships with key stakeholders within the organisation,
  • Build the reputation of Crown Agents as the go-to provider

  • Surge across the team during periods of response,

Technical Delivery

Where applicable, the Job Holder shall

  • Undertake all procurement in compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) in accordance with the provisions of our Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (Human) (WDA (H)) issued by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and our United Kingdom Controlled Drug Licence issued by the Home Office
  • Ensure that all procurement is carried out using the relevant corporate IT system(s) in operation

About you

  • Typically, 10 years of relevant government, third sector or private sector experience in humanitarian and stabilisation programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience working in complex and time-pressured contexts, desirable.
  • A post-graduate degree or equivalent working experience
  • Knowledge of industry trends, define issues formulate and implement strategy/solutions
  • Manage client daily interaction. Set and manage client expectations. Increase customer satisfaction and play a leadership role in the management of client relationships. Interpersonal and people management skills
  • Market research, data collection, analysis of trends, opportunity identification, make recommendation follow-up and recommendation, competitor analysis. Identify, develop and win new opportunities
  • Design, plan, structure, resource, mobilise, monitor, exit and evaluate in line with terms of reference and best practice project management methodology
  • Cost projections, project budgeting and forecasting, cash flow monitoring, currency exposure, risk management
