This is where you can do your best work.Join us at the intersection of saving and sustaining lives—where your purpose accelerates our mission.Your role at BaxterAs a Principal Medical Liaison or Medical Science Liaison you are a field-based member of the Medical Affairs team within the Medical Products and Therapies group in Canada. You will interact with the scientific and clinical community, key opinion leaders (KOLs), researchers, and medical, pharmacy, and nursing educators. You’re the point of contact with clinical investigators seeking investigator-initiated research (IIR) support and with scientific experts to see opportunities and sites for future Baxter sponsored research and develop professional relationships with KOLs in key therapeutic areas. Participate in training sessions, deliver clinical and scientific presentations, and attend medical congresses and company-supported scientific symposia. This group will collaborate with internal Medical Affairs teams in their therapeutic area of expertise to provide scientific information relevant to the launch of new products, support key product strategies, and publications.The Principal Medical Liaison in Canada also provides pharmacy expertise as it relates to the development and maintenance of the Master Drug Library (MDL) for Baxter smart infusion pumps.What you’ll be doingMaster Drug Library (MDL) responsibilities (as part of the Baxter Smart Pump Universal Implementation Process (UIP):Providing remote or on-site MDL software training for MDL administrators on the creation and maintenance of the MDL.Reviewing MDLs created by the newly-trained administrators and outlining opportunities for improvement as necessaryParticipating in on-site MDL vetting and testing sessions with key stakeholders at the institution.Providing remote or on-site training on continuous quality improvement reports for all new MDL administrators.Identifying resource requirements and scheduling those resources as required to help ensure safe and efficient implementations and successful evaluations.Providing remote or on-site ongoing clinical support and/or supplemental training for MDL administrators or other account representatives requesting assistance with drug library needs or issues.Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and health care professionalsAttend and provide scientific support at R&D exhibits and scientific sessions at regional, national, and international medical conferences.Support advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, educational forums and organize and chair roundtable and educational meetings as needed.Identify and communicate new scientific findings and opportunities or threats that could impact the portfolio.Provide medical and scientific support of our strategy of health outcomes, real world evidence, and payer/provider engagements.Collaborate with business partners to develop long-term strategic plans as well as Medical Affairs Plans including comprehensive thought leader plans.Support the management of Grants – including acting as the primary liaison to investigators interested in developing and performing Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) grants).Provide Medical support to Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Medical Information, Health Economics and Outcomes Research and other functions as needed.What you’ll bringPharmacist professional degree with at least 5 years of clinical pharmacy experienceAn active Canadian pharmacist license in good standingBilingual in English and French is requiredTravel will be required and will involve a minimum of 40% nationally in CanadaKnowledge of medication safety principles and their application to smart infusion pumpsDemonstrated understanding of intravenous drug dosing and administrationExperience in reporting of adverse events with basic knowledge of biostatistics and trial designComputer literacy and PowerPoint skills, relationship building and experience presenting medical educationExperience with literature review and interpretationMust be able to work independently and within groups in a collegial mannerNice to haveMinimum 5 years of Canadian acute care hospital experience with pharmacy operations experience preferredDemonstrated understanding of drug library building, vetting, and maintenance is preferredDemonstrated knowledge of smart pump implementation is preferredIndustry experience is preferredHealth outcomes experience is preferred#LI-VS1Reasonable AccommodationsBaxter is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities globally.
