Our team is part of GSK’s Biostatistics function – a large group of statisticians, programmers, and data scientists with the mission to put statistical thinking at the heart of R&D decision-making.We are looking for this role to be based in Ware R&D and Stevenage.In this role you will…

  • Work with GSK scientists and leadership to answer pivotal CMC questions using a wide range of statistical methodologies including linear modelling, design of experiments and analysis, equivalence testing, multivariate methods and modelling using frequentist and Bayesian approaches.
  • Employ established statistical techniques or innovate novel methodologies to tackle scientific issues and to contribute to the regulatory submissions that are required to register our medicines on the market.
  • Collaborate with other in-house quantitative groups to achieve shared goals.
  • Examine relevant literature and perform simulations to assess the applicability of statistical methods to CMC questions.
  • Assist with the coaching, mentoring and training of non-statisticians on the appropriate use of statistical methodologies relevant to their business processes
  • Operate across the entire range of drug development activities, from early development, to registration and marketed product support.

Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals

  • Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics or closely related field with formal statistical training; or MSc in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field with formal statistical training and significant relevant experience
  • Evidence of innovation and technical strength in advanced statistical modelling and/or modern design techniques
  • Experience writing code in R or SAS
  • Track record of strong academic performance

Preferred Qualifications:The following skills are not required, just preferred:

  • PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field with formal statistical training.
  • Familiarity with and application of statistical approaches in areas including but not limited to experimental design, mixed models, Bayesian statistics, linear regression, and high-dimensional data analyses
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English, with the capability to clearly communicate both new and established statistical methods to peers in science
  • Background in statistical consulting, working alongside researchers from various fields to devise practical statistical solutions for scientific inquiries
  • Examine relevant literature and perform simulations to assess the applicability of statistical methods to CMC challenges and regulatory questions.
  • Experience using Design Expert, JMP, or Statistica
