Under the direct supervision of the IOM UK Senior Private Sector Engagement Lead and with guidance from the Private Sector Partnerships Unit, the Private Sector Engagement Associate will support the development and management of partnerships with private sector stakeholders. In this capacity, the Associate will assist in fundraising efforts, promoting corporate responsibility, and helping to safeguard migrant rights. The role involves providing support in identifying and facilitating opportunities for technical collaborations that leverage business expertise and capabilities to enhance migration-related programs.
The Associate will focus on assisting with private sector engagement activities in the United Kingdom and provide support for broader efforts globally. The role is essential in ensuring the smooth coordination of private sector partnerships, supporting flexible funding opportunities, and contributing to the overall impact of IOM’s mission.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Roll-Out of the Private Sector Strategy (2023-2027): Assist in the roll-out and implementation of the Private Sector Strategy in the United Kingdom through targeted outreach and stewardship of private sector stakeholders.
- Conduct Due Diligence: Perform due diligence checks on potential and existing private sector partners to ensure alignment with IOM’s values and compliance standards.
- Private Sector Mapping and Outreach: Conduct ongoing mapping of new private sector prospects and identify opportunities to scale up existing partnerships in the United Kingdom. Assist in implementing outreach plans for new partnerships.
- Strengthen Stakeholder Relationships: Provide administrative support to strengthen and scale up relationships with private sector stakeholders, ensuring consistent and coordinated communication and engagement.
- Provide Administrative Support for Thematic Initiatives: Assist in coordinating initiatives that deliver IOM’s thematic expertise to the business community in the United Kingdom and globally. This includes organizing tools, training sessions, and providing guidance on key areas such as due diligence, access to remedy, and inclusive policies.
- Document and Share Best Practices: Assist in building, documenting, and sharing best practices across thematic and priority areas to further inform and enhance private sector engagement.
- Monitor Progress and KPIs: Support the monitoring and reporting of progress made against key performance indicators (KPIs) for the private sector partner pipeline in the United Kingdom. Help compile data and draft reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervision and Administrative Coordination: Provide day-to-day support to the senior team, supervising staff as and when required
- Other Administrative Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including general administrative support to private sector engagement activities.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in the above with seven years of relevant professional experience;
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Political Science, Human Rights, International Relations, Marketing or related degree with nine years of professional experience.
- Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience:
- At least five years of experience in private sector partnership and income building with proven success in mobilizing financial resources from corporations and philanthropic foundations;
- Excellent understanding of private sector priorities and gained experience in developing partnerships and fundraising with the private sector;
- Experience in handling Corporate Social Responsibility programs and corporate recognition programs;
- Significant experience in exploring new private sector opportunities and providing inputs to design and develop solutions with prospective partners for income and impact;
- Experience building long-term partner relationships and understanding of the value of expanding relationships across geographies and comfortable engaging with multiple sectors; and,
- Experienced in working cross-functionally and obtaining relevant content and information from different units to build innovative partnerships with private sector.
Skills:
- Experienced fundraiser with an in-depth understanding of private sector partnerships, philanthropy and UN agencies;
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to engage with high-level stakeholders;
- Proven and successful multi-year track record in private sector partnerships and fundraising with strong ability to meet fundraising targets and to negotiate and secure high value partnerships with corporates and foundations;
- Strong ability to reconcile the needs of the Organization with those of the partner;
- Ability to write, draft, and edit, reports, acknowledgements, briefings, and donor correspondence when letters, proposals, grants, appeals and ability to explain complex issues to external donors and present the Organization and diverse operations in an appealing and concise manner; and,
- Ability to develop Unique Value Proposition for private sector partners.
Languages
- For all applicants, fluency in English is required oral and written.
- IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
