Job description
Reporting to the R&D Manager, the Process Scientist is responsible for scaling up solutions for large scale manufacturing, and will assist in manufacturing solutions for use in research and development or commercial diagnostic products. This position involves operating a variety of small to large laboratory and solution mixing equipment and works in close collaboration with Product launch & Sustaining, Compliance and Operations staff to facilitate scale-up and design transfer into manufacturing environment.HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Scaling up solutions and conjugation process from R&D scale to large scale manufacturing
- Design and execute experiments to define and justify operational ranges and process boundaries
- Responsible for manufacturing conjugates, buffer solutions, assay reagents and plasma-based solutions for use in research and development or commercial diagnostic products
- Work closely with production team on the reagent scale-up and design transfer process
- Communicate ideas and suggestions for improving processes
- Responsible for the inventory management
- Responsible for drafting production-related documents
- Support process validation
- Manage documentation updates through the design control system
- Responsible for evaluating alternative materials
- Improve production process workflow and efficiency
- Help coordinate experiments and verification activities with PLS, QA, engineer and operations staff
- Understand and comply with Quality and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Support other duties as business demand requires
WHAT YOU BRING
- MS or PhD in chemistry or biochemistry related field, Minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience
- Direct lateral flow reagent production experience is highly valued
- Conjugation manufacturing and scale up experience is highly preferred
- Experience and knowledge preferred: conjugation process, biochemistry/protein chemistry, knowledge of the in-vitro diagnostic industry and regulations, experience in tech transfer from R&D setting and in lateral flow device manufacturing a plus
- Broad scientific knowledge and strong critical thinking skills, excellent attention to detail including accurate and thorough record keeping and the ability to recognize and resolve technical problems
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and written communication skills are required
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a multi-departmental environment.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Access, Excel)
- Organized and detail-oriented
