UNDP is the United Nations largest agency with a mandate to eradicate poverty, through sustainable and inclusive human development. UNDP has been in Nigeria since the country became independent in 1960 providing capacity building and policy development support to the Federal Government of Nigeria in areas of Governance & Peace Building, Inclusive growth, and Sustainable Development.
UNDP continues to support the government in the implementation of development interventions aimed at meeting medium to long term goals enshrined in National and Subnational development plans as well as the Sustainable Development Goals. Under the guidance and supervision of the Operations Manager and direct supervision of the Procurement Analyst, the Procurement Associate provides procurement services ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. The Procurement Associate promotes a client, quality and results-oriented approach in the Unit.
The Procurement Associate works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects staff in the Country Office (CO) and UNDP HQs staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery
Provide support to logistical services, by:
• Assisting in arranging conference facilities.
• Supporting the preparation and processing of travel-related documentation (DSA, travel agencies, hotel and conference facility surveys).
Support knowledge building and sharing, by:
• Participating in trainings for operations and project staff on procurement.
• Assisting in contributing to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
• Supporting basic research on best practices and proposing simple improvements in work processes.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in Procurement and Supply Chain management .
Skills in:
-Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
-Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
-Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels.
-Familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
-Have affinity with or interest in UNDP, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
-Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.

As this is an international UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing (within security cleared areas) and other living essentials.
Travel to duty station (if applicable) and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided in the event the duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
Furthermore, in non-family duty stations that belong to hardship categories D or E, as classi-fied by the ICSC, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) will be provided monthly.
