Trouw Nutrition specializes in animal nutrition and is committed to advancing livestock health and productivity through cutting-edge solutions.Trouw Nutrition is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee the warehouse and production departments while supporting the Plant Manager with ensuring a safe work environment, onboarding, and managing employees, communicating with other departments and customers, being accountable for financial objectives, and meeting or exceeding key performance measures. The position is based in Westlock, Alberta.Responsibilities:Production Planning and Execution:Manage production operations in alignment with Nutreco standards and procedures to achieve efficient and effective resultsCoordinate production activities across shifts, utilizing common equipment, methods, and standardsDevelop and maintain production schedules within established budgets and timelinesLeadership and Team Management:Lead the production team to achieve individual and team objectives through goal setting, coaching, and regular feedbackManage shift scheduling and team mobility for 24/7 operationsOnboard and train new employees in their roles, ensuring alignment with company standardsProvide coaching and development for team members to enhance performanceSafety, Quality, and Compliance:Act as the first point of contact for quality, maintenance, housekeeping, safety, and service issues on shiftEnforce safety policies and procedures to minimize incidents and ensure compliance with HSE/Quality regulationsPromote food safety and quality awareness, addressing and resolving issues proactivelyOperational Oversight and Reporting:Monitor and analyze KPIs to assess production performance, identify variances, and recommend improvementsEnsure production targets are met while maintaining safety and quality standardsAssign and direct tasks on a shift basis, providing guidance and troubleshooting as neededMaintain housekeeping standards in assigned areasContinuous Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to optimize production systems and practicesAssist in the execution of continuous improvement projectsAdditional Responsibilities:Operate mixing and associated equipment effectivelyTravel to other mills as required for meetings or ingredient pick-ups using a company vehicleBe on-call after hours to troubleshoot production issues as neededPerform other duties as assignedSkills and ExpertiseStrong understanding of manufacturing processes and operational best practicesInnovative, detail-oriented, and equipped with excellent interpersonal, influencing, communication, and leadership skillsProven ability to delegate tasks effectively and a passion for coaching and developing team membersExperience in supervising employees, including performance management and fostering engagementStrong oral and written communication skillsProficiency in computer applications and knowledge of Excel is requiredExceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesDemonstrated capability to lead and manage during periods of changeAbility to operate independently with minimal supervision, even in ambiguous situationsCommitment to ensuring safe and efficient plant operations 24/7Proven ability to lead, motivate, and maintain an engaged and high-performing teamQualifications:Grade 12 educationMinimum of 5 years of progressive supervisory experience in a processing or manufacturing facilityWhy you Will Love Working with UsGlobal Benefits:Be part of our sustainable mission with opportunities to grow within Nutreco, Skretting, Trouw Nutrition and the broader SHV groupEmbrace our culture of diversity and inclusion, where we respect and value everyoneLocal Benefits:Robust pension plan with employer matching that begins on Day 1!Competitive health benefits – Medical/Dental/Vision/HSA, that start on Day 1!Short-term/Long-term Disability and Mental Health spending allowanceMaternal top-up and Tuition Reimbursement15 vacation days to start (tiered)Annual bonusNext Steps:We value a seamless candidate experience and will review your application within five (5) business days.
