The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Warwick and will hold an Honorary Consultant contract with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). Clinical sessions will be undertaken at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire where you will provide specialist services in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, and provide a sub-speciality service as agreed with the Clinical Director.At WMS we have established research programmes in Discovery Science and Applied Health alongside the Warwick Clinical Trials Unit – one of the largest in the UK. We strive to be innovative, bold, interdisciplinary, and inspiring, while ensuring a positive research culture and an advocacy for open science.T&O has a long history of success at Warwick, with
£10M external research funding over the past decade and multiple papers in world leading journals (e.g. Lancet, JAMA, BMJ), with demonstrable impact and research collaborations across the university (such as WMG, WBS). Our T&O translational research programme will build on existing strengths, networks, and reputation for orthopaedics trials activity. In particular, we are seeking to grow a portfolio of clinically-important innovative research and trials work including industry-sponsored, rapid, registration-quality trials and evaluation activities as well as more traditional joint NIHR and research council bids.The role will be based at our purpose-built institute, dedicated to translational medicine, Clinical Sciences Research Laboratory (CSRL) at UHCW.The successful candidate will be appointed at either the Associate Professor or Professor level, based on their skills, qualifications, and experience.About YouThe successful candidate will have substantial experience of research in clinical trials leading to impact and publication, and an outstanding track record of managing research teams working in the complex environment of health care. Applicants must have a Ph.D., MD or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline. The successful applicant will be expected to establish a productive, internationally recognized research program that generates peer-reviewed publications and is supported by external funding.This is a clinical post open to those with an appropriate higher Trauma and Orthopaedic surgical qualification and within six months of CCT date or equivalent at the point of interview.For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.About the DepartmentWarwick Medical School (WMS) has big ambitions and a track record of success across research, innovation, and education; our “Warwick Doctor” proving to be one of the best there is.
