We hold Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Accredited Centre Status. We are ranked 11th in “Construction, Surveying and Planning” in the UK (Guardian League Tables 2024). We are also ranked 13th in “Building” in the UK (Complete University Guide League Tables 2025). Our programmes are offered at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels utilising various modes of interaction including in-person, distance learning, and degree apprenticeship provisions. We engage with industry, professional institutions and UK/overseas bodies and research networks, including The Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) and the Conseil International du Bâtiment (CIB).Working within the ABE, you will provide expertise in the subject area of Built Environment to further enhance research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities. This will include designing, developing and delivering high-quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce high-quality academic outputs, participating in competitive research funding applications and external activity to generate income and promote the discipline.Achieving excellence in research is our drive as evident in our latest REF2021 power rankings where the Department is ranked 11th in the UK. The Department has research strengths in areas including Adaptation, Value, and the Built Environment; Sustainable Construction Futures; Design Research Group and Practice-Based Research; Digital Built Environment; and People and Place, in addition to “Urban Futures”; an interdisciplinary research theme. We will consider high-quality applications, from both early career and senior academics, in areas relevant to our teaching or research activities and from candidates with previous industry experience.
