The successful candidate is expected to:

  • develop an innovative programme of research in cancer immunotherapy and early diagnosis of cancer. Funding for this post comes from the UCL/UCLH BRC and it is expected that a component of the appointee’s research programme will have relevance to clinical application in the medium-term. This research programme is intended to complement the existing strengths in immuno-therapy at the Cancer Institute and wider UCL campus which includes antibody therapy, checkpoint inhibition and the use of genetically engineered T-cells.
  • develop a high quality research programme, including securing of external grant funding, publication in high impact journals and supervision of postgraduate students. The appointee will be expected to develop a research programme that incorporates a commitment to the principles of Research governance, and to carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post as agreed by the Director.
  • Contribute to the administrative, teaching and research activities within the UCL Cancer Institute.
  • Develop or maintain a high profile in selected national/international Oncology organisations.
  • Partake in the teaching of medical students and students on the BSC cancer and MSc cancer modules. This activity is divided equally between all senior appointments within the department.
  • Engage in supervision of higher degree research students.
  • Contribute to the educational and research needs of faculty staff.
  • Critically analyse research literature relevant to the position and to attend national and international conferences to keep abreast of the field.

The successful candidate will have:PhD, or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publicationsExperience of and commitment to multidisciplinary working and of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levelsLeadership skills and the ability to take forward service developmentsApplicant seeking appointment at professorial level will be expected to evidence an outstanding international research profile with track record of extensive publications in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals and invited conference contributionsCustomer advert reference: B02-08265
