These roles are part of a University of Liverpool and Unilever joint initiative. These appointments form part of a broader strategy that recognizes the central, long-term societal importance of Sustainability and Net Zero. We interpret sustainability here broadly to all sectors and we welcome applications from candidates with a proven research track-record or industrial experience that can address this challenge, including but not limited to microstructure of soft matter systems or characterisation of complex mixtures of soft matter systems. We especially welcome those whose research will complement our existing activities including digital methods and automated experimentation leveraging computation and theory. The University of Liverpool has a very close relationship with Unilever, and our partnership is a leading example of Knowledge Exchange (KE) practices between academia and industry. Unilever is a well-established global consumer goods company and their work within the Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) focuses on developing formulated materials. However, the collaborative projects with the University cover a much broader range of activities with equally broad impacts. This role is a joint investment and a significant opportunity to take this partnership forward.[ ]We are particularly interested in applications from researchers with experience in one or more of the following:
- Microstructure manipulation and microstructure of soft matter (micelles, lamellar, multiphase, foams, thin films, emulsions, gels, liquids, pastes, liquids, soft solids) and their behaviour at interfaces and in a “dynamic environment” such as dilution, heating/cooling) (biological/human and physical).
- State of the art characterisation of complex mixtures of soft matter systems (at different interfaces and using state of art characterisation techniques) and experience in understanding complex systems.
- Experience in modifying interactions e.g., surfactants, cleaning, deposition, lubrication.
- Future ways of working: digital, in silico, robotics.
In your application you must clearly articulate: * Which one of the broad areas (microstructure of soft matter systems and characterisation of complex mixtures of soft matter systems) you align most closely to.
- Your track record of research, working with multidisciplinary partners or collaboration with industry.
- How your research plans fit with wider Departmental strategy.
- Your ability to deliver high quality teaching and inspire students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We are looking to appoint the most appropriate candidate according to experience and ability. University of Liverpool values diversity across our community and welcomes applications from all sectors of society, particularly from underrepresented groups.Closing Date: 5 July 2024.For full details and to apply online, please visit:Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsAdditional InformationWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL Country United Kingdom City Liverpool GeofieldContact CityLiverpoolSTATUS: EXPIREDShare this page
