Location: Kedleston Road, Derby, DE22 1GBSalary: £69,047 to £86,309 per annum (For exceptional performers, there is scope for further progression up to £99,255 per annum)Advert Closes: Sunday 14 July 2024We are looking for a Biomedical Scientist with research interests in Cancer, Infection, Metabolism or neurodegenerative disease for the post of Professor of Biomedical Science. This post will support the scope of Biomedical and Clinical Theme, which covers research across the College of Science and Engineering and the College of Psychology, Health and Social Care.This opportunity is available at Professor (level 4) (National and or emerging international portfolio), knowledge and research outputs. You will be expected to be a major authority in your subject area with an international reputation and a proven track record of academic leadership. Your research should be internationally competitive, reflecting a track record of outputs that are internationally recognised and excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour. We encourage interdisciplinary portfolios, where high quality research can be linked to future Impact Case Studies. Evidence of a track record in developing and securing external funding. You will also have a track record of successful recruitment and supervision of PhD students.The role also involves contribution to teaching and learning across the Biomedical Discipline. As Professor, you will be expected to contribute to our mentoring scheme and the wider college and university professoriate. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake important leadership and / or management roles, including collaborations outside of the University with public and private partners, international academic institutions, research funders, government agencies, non-government bodies and industry, in accordance with their chosen specialism. In addition to the above, you will also have experience of successful leadership of a Research Institute, Centre, Group or equivalent unit. Your research will reflect evidence of world-leading scholarship with a strong portfolio of academic leadership that will have value internally and externally. Strong external measures of esteem including leadership of relevant research and professional networks on a national and international level. You will also have external bidding portfolio that captures funding from a range of sources including consultancy, knowledge exchange.In order to meet the Professorial criteria, you will need to demonstrate proven achievement against two criteria:1. Outstanding achievement in

  • Research or
  • Professional Practice or
  • Teaching & Learning

and must also demonstrate2. Very high level of achievement in relation to both

  • Professional Standing and
  • Senior leadership.
